Todays post is a little photo featurette of a friend of mine, the ever talented, Aliyah Davis.

Aliyah Davis lives in LA where she currently works as a graphic designer for an independent music label. Aliyah is a talented musician and artist with a soft spot for sweet baked goods. Yum! 

 

 

She is also very involved in the local metal scene, leading her own Columbian-American melodic metal band, Inheritor, and participating in several others.

Cleon Update + California Home: Aliyah Davis

It is snowing something beautiful here in Bentonville, Arkansas! I have a photo shoot planned for this weekend and as long as my subjects don't back out (I REALLY hope they don't!), it could be a positively magical & beautiful thing with all this fluffy white (tomorrow is supposed to be partly sunny - perfect photography weather). :) I took test shots last week, but they wont be applicable tomorrow because of the reflective quality of the snow. I grew up in the North, so I just love the snow. I was so obsessed with the snow scenes in Katy Perry's Unconditional music video a few weeks ago, that I took screen shots of all my favorites. You can see them here. We don't get much snow here in Arkansas, so this is a rare occasion.

The storm itself is named Cleon, which sounds to me like an epic sci-fi movie: Storm Cleon Attacks! 

I might just make up a poster, if I can find some time! Or perhaps a t-shirt: 

"I survived Cleon 2013!" Haha!

Look for wintery photos on my blog soon, but in the meantime I have a little gift for those of you who hate snow! My good friend Aliyah Davis (a singer/songwriter/graphic artist/model in LA) took a trip and was kind enough to share some photos of where she was staying. They are just beautiful! Miss Cadie: My California Dreamin' Friend

This is my beautiful friend Cadie and this is her life...



We met in college in intro to sewing... at ol' Purdue University in our home state of Indiana...



We keep in touch via email and Facebook and funny photo messages...
She is my adventure buddy, the one I call when I need to cry, or laugh, or talk about riding the struggle bus (you know we all do it at some point!)...



She is hilarious! Having her there helped me get through many all-nighters in the fashion lab and most recently when I was recovering from a car accident when someone side swiped me, she texted me at least once a day to check on me and encourage me. It really helped me get through a hard time in my life and I am so thankful.

During college we made a (joke) pact that if we didn't make it in fashion we would move to California and become comedians (our jokes would be about failing in the fashion industry)...



But luckily, we both made it (and it's a good thing because I'm better at fashion than I am at making jokes)!

I moved to Ohio and then to Arkansas and she moved out to Cali to live her dream working in the West Coast active sports apparel and accessories business... Her life is glamorous and adventurous and full of fun like the Redbull Flugtag contest at Long Beach...




She gets to wake up every day and see things like this...

Even though we both come from this...



And we are living our dreams on opposite sides of the country...



I know I can always count on her to make me laugh or smile when I am feeling down...



Life is always a thumbs up, with Cadie!



Cadie lives a beautiful beachy life in California!



And I am so lucky to have her as a friend!

California Cool by deuxs featuring oakwood furniture

One of my closest friends, Cadie, lives in California. She always talks about how amazing it is to watch the sun set over the ocean every night. Well, when I saw this board on Polyvore, I couldn't agree more. But why should Californians have all the fun? Decorate your house in these babies and you basically have the sun over the water 24/7. Notice the light colored wood and curtains, mimicking the soft sand under your feet, the yellow canary sunshine, and the soft blue sky. Thanks, "Deuxs!"
