One Skirt:Three Ways

One Skirt: Three Ways

One Skirt: Three Ways by selenamarie318 featuring vince camuto

Most of the time, when ladies purchase a statement piece we can tend to only pair it up with the same outfit and it ends up spending a lot of time in the closet instead of being worn. So I would like to challenge you to make sure you can wear it at least three different ways!

Tips to make sure your favorite statement piece doesn't spend too much time in the back of the closet:

 1. When you purchase a statement piece, make sure you have three or more ways to wear it, otherwise it will spend more time in the closet than it should. Try layering a skirt over a pair of leggings, or wearing your elastic waist band skirt as a top with a cinched in belt. If you are going to purchase an investment piece, you should always consider the different ways you can wear it to switch up your look and make sure your favorite items get their fair share of wear!

2. Don't rule out dresses as tops for layering (the top on the right is a dress tucked in)! Switch it up and try new things. You never know what might work unless you try it on!

3. You don't  have to have three sets of accessories, but you should have a way to switch out the styling so each outfit looks different. For a skirt like this, with multiple colors an easy way to switch it up is to focus on a different color from the print.

Pull&Bear dresses with belt, $39 / Reed Krakoff lace camisole tank / McQ by Alexander McQueen evening top / Topshop / Brian Atwood high heel platform sandals, $560 / High heels / Leather boots / Givenchy / Dorothy Perkins / Cartier leather coin purse / Vince Camuto / Haskell bangle bracelet / Akira / Rose hair accessory, $9.16

Faerie Forest

Faerie Forest

Faerie Forest by selenamarie318 featuring leather pants

I am kind of obsessed with fairies and fairie tales. I loved reading Shakespeare's A Midsummer Nights Dream back in high school. You can read it for free on Google Play. The video below is the movie version made in 1999. Michelle Pfeiffer is sort of magical in it, but I guess that is not surprising seeing as the story is about fairies and magic. Anyway, I love the costuming. I think it might be time for a re-make though. It is amazing how much technology has changed in 14 years. The movie looks rather old, but perhaps there is something nostalgic about it. It may be due time to watch again!
