Fashion designers in 1939 were asked to forecast what women would wear in 2000 AD. Some of their predictions were shockingly accurate!
They predicted:
- Adjustable clothing, that can translate from day to night (I want that dress in the video!)
- Dresses of transparent netting with strategic matte placement for modesty
- Hair styles high up on the head
- Pants will overtake dresses in popularity
- Shoes will take on the shape of a cantilever
- An electric belt will adapt the body to climactic changes
- Atmospheres will be adjusted to meet the most scientifically correct temperature.
- Wedding dresses will be adorned with glass
- A dress with a zippered sash to change it from day to evening
- Men will grow out their beards in lieu of shaving
- Men will avoid colors, pockets, and ties
- But they will be "fitted with "a telephone, a radio, and containers for coins, keys, and candy for cuties."
Of course, candies for cuties! ;)
