Artist Spotlight: Anthony Resto

Faith By Anthony Resto

Resto explains briefly, "The first piece is called Faith: its about a girl who wants to see God and puts her fate in His hands."

Resto's work often displays a strong sense of color with a vibrantly dark emotional quality and an advanced understanding of line and modified bodily proportion. While his seems to draws on elements of fantasy, mythology, and even steam punk, if you ask him, he will say his focus is on one thing: for the quality of his work to stand alone without need of explanation. And as you can see, it does just that.

While many artists thrive on the conversational aspects of explaining the meaning of their work, Anthony Resto firmly believes that good work speaks for itself. And anyone who has seen his work can attest to it.

Mekina Concept By Anthony Resto

Even so, he has shown apt skill at translating conceptual verbal ideas into images for his book illustration projects. Maintaining confidentiality, Resto was able to say, "The second piece is some concept work for a book I wrote that is currently being illustrated. I dont really want to divulge any information on that piece right now but the book is called Mekina. Its just called Mekina concept."

Anthony Resto is 28, and lives in Hobart, Indiana. He holds a BFA in Watercolor from the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Please visit
