Life Update: Happy Thanksgiving!

Today was Thanksgiving Day!

Mr. Turkey, pulling a Miley.

For those of you not in the USA, Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday where families and friends get together for a special meal to give thanks for their life.

I had a lovely meal with some co-worker friends.

Our beautiful place settings, fancy silverware and all...

The meal traditionally consists of turkey or ham (depending on regional traditions and personal preferences)...

Our delicious orange-stuffed bird, prepared by Richard.
... mashed potatoes or sweet potatoes (again depending on regional/personal preferences- we had both), bread stuffing, bread rolls and a few other sides!

My friend, Dee made this delicious salad.

I made apple-sage stuffing "cupcakes," of course! Richard re-plated it to a pretty glass tray, but I forgot to take a photo.
Birgit and her husband Richard were wonderful hosts and it was a beautiful, fun and festive occasion!

Birgit, with her husband, Richard (who tells the BEST story line jokes)!
My friend Kristin, matched the pillows and so I took a quick candid photo. Despite what she will tell you, she is very photogenic!
Birgit's beautiful kitty, asking me to brush him...
Time for a quick shameless mirror selfie! We just happened to co-ordinate (on accident).
"Why aren't you paying attention to me?" he meowed... I finally brushed him and he was a happy kitty, purring so loudly!

Thanksgiving Day is almost at it's end, but I wanted to squeeze in a quick post about what I am thankful for.

I am thankful for a lovely day with friends today.

Clockwise from top: Me, Birgit, Maria,Dee, The Turkey, Kristin
I am thankful for all the gifts God has given me: my friends, my family- especially my Grandmas and aunts and uncles, my pets, my amazing co-workers, and also my job- which gives me the freedom to do what I love. I am thankful for my imagination and for dreams and for hope and truth.

All of the things that I am thankful for could not be listed in a single blog post. It would take many many books to list everything for which I am thankful.

So I will just say this: I am so thankful for my life and I am so blessed. I am also very thankful for you. Those who read my posts give me something to be exited about and I love sharing my ideas and my life with you!

I thought I would share a few photos from my day. I hope you enjoyed them and I hope your day was as lovely as mine.

A smooch for Mr. Turkey!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Miss Cadie: My California Dreamin' Friend

This is my beautiful friend Cadie and this is her life...

We met in college in intro to sewing... at ol' Purdue University in our home state of Indiana...

We keep in touch via email and Facebook and funny photo messages...
She is my adventure buddy, the one I call when I need to cry, or laugh, or talk about riding the struggle bus (you know we all do it at some point!)...

She is hilarious! Having her there helped me get through many all-nighters in the fashion lab and most recently when I was recovering from a car accident when someone side swiped me, she texted me at least once a day to check on me and encourage me. It really helped me get through a hard time in my life and I am so thankful.

During college we made a (joke) pact that if we didn't make it in fashion we would move to California and become comedians (our jokes would be about failing in the fashion industry)...

But luckily, we both made it (and it's a good thing because I'm better at fashion than I am at making jokes)!

I moved to Ohio and then to Arkansas and she moved out to Cali to live her dream working in the West Coast active sports apparel and accessories business... Her life is glamorous and adventurous and full of fun like the Redbull Flugtag contest at Long Beach...

She gets to wake up every day and see things like this...

and this...

and this...

Even though we both come from this...

And we are living our dreams on opposite sides of the country...

I know I can always count on her to make me laugh or smile when I am feeling down...

Life is always a thumbs up, with Cadie!

Cadie lives a beautiful beachy life in California!

And I am so lucky to have her as a friend!

Also because she did this...

BEFORE Miley did it:

AND she's wearing a cool two-piece thing with CATS ON IT.

:P

That's trend setting, y'all! If you like this and want to see more of her fabulous life, please comment, like, and share so I can convince her that her amazing life is totally Kindred Closets Blog-worthy!

<3 you Cadie!

Katy Perry's "Unconditional"- 50 Most Breathtaking Screen Captures!

If you have not yet seen the video yet for Katy Perry's "Unconditional" single,  now is the time. I must say I was awestruck by the beauty of the compositions created in this video! I was so taken by it, I spent the better part of my Sunday afternoon (painstakingly, wink, wink) screen capturing the top 50 images from the video! Please scroll through and share. In order to avoid extreme loading times, I'll post a link to the video at the bottom for you to watch it in all it's glory.

The part with the car inter cut with the flower scene is very emotional to me!

Breathtaking! By far her best video and song yet.

Watch the video here and tell me what you think in the comments section below. If you like posts like this, please help me out and click "like" and share (it lets me know you are there)! :)
